JADED, DRUNK, CHARMING
almost being forced to marry a woman he didn’t love and then being disinherited by his father and having to explain why has given charles the idea that it would be easier to simply not deal with people at all, so now, he sticks to horses. he used to own some of them, but now he takes care of other people’s. at the moment, he’s taking care of the breckenridges’, but he’s more interested in their daughter, hallie. she seems to understand him, which is somewhat unexpected, though no matter how drunk he is, he still manages to be comprehensible, even charming. he finds drinking is the easiest way to escape, as is having a good sense of humor. but neither of those things are helping him get any closer to hallie.
